Why Are There Tears?

waking from a dreamless sleep
sitting staring looking and seeing
nothing; absolutely nothing
in hopes of stopping the tears
yet don't want to hear "What's Wrong?"
cant seem to figure it all out
don't want to answer with "I Don't know"
tries to cover it up with a fake smile
yet want to know why are there tears?
wondering if the locked up feelings
inside are crying to be free?
they've been so well hidden
can't remember why they were
locked up in the first place
